RHETORICAL FIGURES IN PRINT ADVERTISING

Rethorical figures are non conventional ways to use words or images that can make them specially expressive. They are oftenly used in printed ads making them more original and inspirational.

It allows the advertiser to avoid long texts and try to be more visual and also make the receptor be more interactive and think about what is the message he or she is looking at.

Besides the most common metaphor, there are plenty of them that can contribute with the redundancy, emphasis or comparison, between others.

I have looked for some good examples and I include a little bit of explanation under them but I invite you to guess which figure is been used before reading the text.

Personification: With his figure human characteristics are given to animals.

Ellipsis: with this figure there is an intentional omission of something, that makes us think about it.       There is something that is not showed.

Comparison: This figure is comparing two elements that have a element is common.

Hiperboles: it consists on exaggerate things.

Metaphor: Implicit comparison is made between two unlike things that actually have something in common.

Hope you liked it! Thanks for your attention!
